Effectiveness of low-tube current for reducing radiation dose in cerebral CT perfusion

چکیده

Introduction Objective: This study aims to investigate the reduction of radiation dose in cerebral CT perfusion by lower low-tube current. Material and methods Two hundred patients, who underwent non-contrast computed tomography (CT) perfusion, were randomized into four groups according tube current contrast media (CM) concentration: group A (60 mAs, 320 mgI/ml), B 370 C (100 D mgI/ml). Among these groups, index (CTDIvol), length product (DLP) effective (ED) was calculated. The quantitative image comparison included maximum enhancement, noise, signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), blood volume (CBV), flow (CBF), mean transit time (MTT) from five regions interests (ROIs). Results Ranging 100 mAs 60 achieved 40% CTDIvol, DLP ED, when compared with D. Both enhancement noise all ROIs higher B, (P<0.05). CBV values D, quality (IQ) each maps met requirements for imaging diagnosis. Conclusions led a without sacrificing quality.

A method for reducing radiation dose in cerebral CT perfusion study with variable scan schedule.

PURPOSE To propose a method for reducing the radiation dose in cerebral CT perfusion studies by using a variable scan schedule. MATERIALS AND METHODS Original images were obtained with a multi detector-row CT (MDCT) scanner using the following CT perfusion protocol: continuous scans of 1 sec/rotation x 60 sec, four 5-mm-thick contiguous slices. The original images were thinned-out using combi...

Local attenuation curve optimization framework for high quality perfusion maps in low-dose cerebral perfusion CT.

PURPOSE Cerebral perfusion x-ray computed tomography (PCT) is a powerful tool for noninvasive imaging of hemodynamic information throughout the brain. Conventional PCT requires the brain to be imaged multiple times during the perfusion process, and hence radiation dose is a major concern. The authors propose a PCT reconstruction algorithm that allows for lowering the dose while maintaining a hi...

Size specific dose estimate (SSDE) for estimating patient dose from CT used in myocardial perfusion SPECT/CT

Objective(s): Size specific dose estimate (SSDE) is a new parameter that includes patient size factor in its calculation. Recent studies have produced mixed results on the utility of SSDE, especially when automatic exposure control (AEC) was used. The objective of the study was to find out if there is a relationship between patient size and each of the parameters, SSDE...

Radiation dose reduction in thoracic and abdomen–pelvic CT using tube current modulation: a phantom study

This phantom study was designed to compare the radiation dose in thoracic and abdomen-pelvic CT scans with and without use of tube current modulation (TCM). Effective dose (ED) and size-specific dose estimation (SSDE) were calculated with the absorbed doses measured at selective radiosensitive organs using a thermoluminescence dosimeter-100 (TLD-100). When compared to protocols without TCM, the...

Combining Automatic Tube Current Modulation with Adaptive Statistical Iterative Reconstruction for Low-Dose Chest CT Screening

OBJECTIVE To reduce radiation dose while maintaining image quality in low-dose chest computed tomography (CT) by combining adaptive statistical iterative reconstruction (ASIR) and automatic tube current modulation (ATCM). METHODS Patients undergoing cancer screening (n = 200) were subjected to 64-slice multidetector chest CT scanning with ASIR and ATCM. Patients were divided into groups 1, 2,...
